Anthony Smythe began his career, like so many in the industry, as a freelance runner in South Africa. It didn’t take long for him to realize he had a deep interest in filmmaking and decided to step into the realm of camera. He quickly made his way up the hierarchal ranks of the camera department. Anthony’s first feature film was the 1988 production “American Ninja,” and has worked on more than 29 feature films since then, some of them including “The Air Up There,” “Syriana,” “Good Man in Africa,” “Out of Africa,” “Circles in the Forest”, “Kingdom”, “City of Life” and most recently “Mission Impossible 4”!
